SACC - Annual General Meeting
Saturday 6 November 2010 (9am - 12.30pm (Registration from 8.45am))The major focus for the meeting will be a Report, with Conversation, from the South Australian Dialogue of the Roman Catholic and Uniting Churches on Lay Ministry in the Roman Catholic and Uniting Churches of South Australia.
We encourage you to note especially the statement regarding Asylum Seekers which was passed unanimously. Letters have been signed and sent with the following text:
“This General Meeting encourages the Federal Government to implement polices and procedures to enable Australian communities to welcome and support humanitarian refugees and asylum seekers.
The Council offered this encouragement out of its understanding of the hospitality and welcome, which is at the heart of the Christian experience of welcoming the stranger and the person seeking safe haven and refuge.
The Churches in South Australia are willing to assist the Government in this act of generosity and welcome and assures it of support in implementing such policies and procedures.”
