The Social Justice Network of the National Council of Churches in Australia, recently produced a resource entitled I was in prison and you visited me, to assist individuals/congregations to be aware of the facts about prisons in Australia and to advocate for a more just society.
The Australian Catholic Bishops also issued a Social Justice Statement, Building Bridges, Not Walls, Prisons and the justice system
A key aspect is the provision of adequate housing, accommodation and support services for prisoners and their families on release so that they can assimilate well to life on the outside.
