Learning Together in Christ

The Purpose of Learning Together in Christ is to foster, through conversation and reflection, the formation of an ecumenical attitude among Leaders across the Churches and to revisit, or experience for the first time, the source of that attitude in John 17:17-24.
Learning Together in Christ will be led by Rev Dr Greg Elsdon, Executive Director of St Paul’s City Ministry, a South Australian ecumenical venture promoting conversation about values and spirituality in the workplace.  An ordained minister of Churches of Christ, Greg has a background in both theological education and parish ministry.
Greg writes, “Ecumenism is no new thing.  From the outset, Christian communities have been held together in what was aptly described by Ernst Käsemann as a ‘tension-filled interconnection’”.

Sacred Space 2010: A Celebration by the Churches Together 11 April – 16 May

Easter was celebrated by Orthodox and Western Churches on the same date this year, 4 April 2010, and again in 2011. Churches from both Orthodox and Western traditions across metropolitan SA have agreed to mark this common celebration of Easter in 2010 by hosting a series of gatherings for prayer and hospitality during the period between Easter and the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, from 11 April until 16 May 2010. The series is entitled Sacred Space: a celebration by the Churches together and will include:

  • Prayer (in the manner of the host church’s tradition)
  • Reflections from one or two people about what the Easter story means for them in their daily lives
